Town of Babylon Celebrates Women’s History Month

Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with members of the Town Board and the Department of Human Services to host the Town’s 28th annual Women’s History Month Celebration. The popular event was held at Walter G. O’Connell High School in Copiague and highlighted this year’s theme, “Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor & Business.” Judge Debra Urbano-DiSalvo, Amityville Village Justice, served as Mistress of Ceremonies for the celebration while Laura Douglas-Robinson, Senior Executive Leader at Avon, delivered the event’s keynote address. This year’s ceremony also featured live musical performances by vocalist Alleyah Kate, the Roseland School of Dance, and Copiague High School’s Madrigal Choir.

Barbara Evernham, Town of Babylon Deputy Clerk, Gertrude Van Kirk Woman in Government Award

Melissa Firmes, KiDS NEED MoRE Inc., Maxine Postal Humanitarian Award

Tatiana Leftenant, Sheascents LLC, Phoenix Award

Jacqueline Martinez, Southold Town Human Resource Center, Community Service Award

Colleen McGrath, Office of the Suffolk County Executive, Government Appreciation Award

Margo Nelson, Wyandanch Scholarship Committee, Community Service Award
