Councilman Anthony Manetta
Anthony Manetta took office as Town Councilman January 1st, 2018.
Councilman Manetta is the Chairman of the Town of Babylon Small Business Committee. The Committee was formed by Town Board Resolution with a focus to promote small business across the Town and foster collaboration.
Professionally Councilman Manetta is an entrepreneur and is the former CEO and executive director of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency (IDA). He is a well-respected leader on Long Island having been widely recognized for his efforts.
Councilman Manetta led the rebranding efforts of the Suffolk County IDA and created cutting edge initiatives during his tenure at the agency. One of these programs, Boost, provided companies in the growth sector of the economy with a competitive advantage through aggressive incentives. He has also overseen the development of a jobs website designed to bolster workforce opportunities in manufacturing, sciences and technology. He directly influenced the significant growth of Suffolk County's first emerging downtown "tech cluster" by supporting several early-stage companies, and has helped launch a high-tech accelerator co-working environment. He led for increased transparency and accountability at the IDA and led the recapturing of benefits for firms who do not live up to their obligations to the taxpayer. Furthermore, he initiated and structured significant manufacturing, pharmaceutical and technological deals. While Councilman Manetta managed the IDA, Suffolk County added thousands to the local workforce, tens of millions of dollars in new economic activity, hundreds of millions in capital reinvestment and tens of millions in new payroll dollars.
Prior to his appointment to the IDA, Councilman Manetta served as an executive at a corporate turnaround and restructuring boutique that specialized in creating value in highly complex situations. In addition to managing the firm's day-to-day operations, he initiated qualitative research projects and oversaw the external affairs.
Councilman Manetta has been recognized by community groups, trade associations and media outlets for his work including being named one of Long Island Business News' 40 leaders under the age of 40, the Melville Chamber of Commerce Business Advocate of the Year, awarded the Long Island Business News' 'IDA of the Year' and recognized by the Boys & Girls Club and Pronto Long Island for his achievements at their annual galas.
Community involvement has been an important piece to Councilman Manetta's life. He co-founded the Daniel Street Civic Association in Lindenhurst. There he created a platform for local residents to become engaged in the happenings surrounding their community. He also is a Board Member of the United Way of Long Island with a special focus on issues facing local Veterans. He sat as a member of the Lindenhurst Economic Development Committee (LEDC) helping the Village lay the foundation for new economic development and downtown revitalization.
Italian Culture – rooted in family and community - is important to Councilman Manetta. He is a member of the Sons of Italy Constantino Brumidi Lodge in Deer Park and a member of the Lt. Joseph Petrosino Association in America.
Councilman Manetta holds a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Corporate Finance.
