[ARCHIVED] Belmont Lake Civic Association Celebrates Clock Dedication

Belmont Lake Civic Association Clock Dedication

Heavy rain didn’t stop the long awaited ribbon-cutting and clock dedication for the Belmont Lake Civic Association at their Adopt-a-Spot of the Alice T. Cone Memorial Triangle.

The clock was obtained with help from New York State Senator Phil Boyle and the Town of Babylon under then President John Simpkins and the initial ceremony, which was set for early-2020, was postponed due to the pandemic.

Prior to the ceremony, a solemn memorial service was held to honor and remember the lives of nine Civic Association members who passed away during the pandemic, including three executive board members, Ruby Hudson, John D. Norris, and Trevor Whyte.

In attendance for the ceremony was Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Terence McSweeney, New York State Senator Phil Boyle, Suffolk County Legislator Jason Richberg and Beautification Director, Viscel Moore.

The clock is located at Alice T. Cone Memorial Triangle, which is between Mount Avenue and Essex Street in North Babylon.
