Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer. Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilmen Terence McSweeney and DuWayne Gregory and Town Clerk Gerry Compitello recently gathered with leadership and members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Patrick’s Division 2 of Babylon and local elected officials and representatives to declare the month of March as “Irish American Heritage Month” in the Town of Babylon. T.J. Hatter of New York State Attorney General Letitia James Office, Presiding Officer of the Suffolk County Legislature Kevin McCaffrey, and Legislators Jason Richberg and Tom Donnelly were also in attendance.
Supervisor Schaffer presented Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 2 President Dennis Harty and members of the organization with proclamations and thanked all of them for their hard work in our community. “The Town Board and I are happy to celebrate Irish American heritage by recognizing all that the Hibernians do for our Town of Babylon community,” said Supervisor Schaffer. Last year, the organization raised $1,000 for the Town of Babylon Food Pantry with their inaugural “Half Way to St. Patrick’s Day 5K.”
