At a recent meeting of the Babylon Town Board, Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman and Public Safety Chairman Terence McSweeney and the rest of the board recognized the hardworking staff of Babylon Central Fire and Rescue Alarm for 60 years of service to the Town of Babylon. Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly was also in attendance.

Formed in 1962, Babylon Central Fire and Rescue Alarm is the emergency communications office for fire and rescue calls within the Town of Babylon. Dispatchers work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week routing emergency calls to the appropriate fire department.

“We can’t say enough about the work the men and women of Babylon Central do each and every day,” said Councilman Terence McSweeney. “We often hear from our volunteer fire and rescue personnel how grateful they are for the professionalism and calm demeanor of the dispatcher’s on the other side of the radio, and I know all of my colleagues on the board echo that sentiment as well.”

“While many of our residents have probably never met the men and women of this great organization, I’m sure they have interacted with them in their time of need. We congratulate them on 60 years of service and thank them for not just for the work they do daily, but also for the many times of crisis that have helped get us through,” added Supervisor Rich Schaffer.
