The Babylon Town Board invites the community to join us on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 5:00 PM at Tanner Park in Copiague for a candlelight vigil marking the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy.
On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy made landfall along the New Jersey coast during a full moon and high tide cycle. These combining forces led storm surge as high as 8 feet in many of our communities along the south shore. Through all the devastation, our first responders and many average everyday citizens became community heroes when they stepped up to support those in need.
To mark the 10th anniversary, we will pay tribute to the first responders and community heroes who helped us weather the storm, and proved that Babylon is safe, resilient and strong.
Members of the community are invited to share their Sandy memories with the Town using this online form
