Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma and members of the Tanner Park Senior Committee to thank volunteers from Farmingdale Lowe’s for their work in fixing up the 9/11 Memorial outside of the Tanner Park Senior Center in Copiague that was damaged by Superstorm Sandy. The managers and staff of Lowe’s not only donated supplies and also planted new flowers, trees and shrubs as well as repaired the planter that holds them.

This initiative was undertaken as part of the “Lowe’s Heroes” program, which encourages Lowe’s stores to give back to their surrounding communities through volunteer work, and the Town of Babylon’s Beautification Program. Those interested in taking part in the Beautification Program can call (631) 587-3752 ext. 6012.

Pictured with the Lowe’s volunteers and members of the Tanner Park Senior Committee are Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma (fourth from right); Supervisor Schaffer (third from right); Florence Findley, Director of Beautification; and Nancy Delaney, Tanner Park Senior Center Director.
