[ARCHIVED] Great South Bay Closed for Clamming Due to Heavy Rainfall

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Bureau of Marine Resources has announced that the Great South Bay is closed for clamming until further notice due to recent heavy rainfall and stormwater runoff, which may result in conditions causing shellfish to be hazardous to be used as food. These restrictions are effective immediately and will remain in place until the water quality in the area meets standards acceptable for clamming.
