Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez recently joined with New York State Assemblyman Robert Sweeney to commend a group of Cub Scouts from Copiague’s Pack 154 for obtaining their Arrow of Light awards. The Arrow of Light award is the highest honor available to Cub Scouts and represents the first step in the transition to becoming a Boy Scout. In order to obtain an Arrow of Light award, a Cub Scout must earn a variety of activity badges, meet several skill requirements, observe a Boy Scout meeting and activity, and learn the Scout Promise and Scout Law.

Pictured from left to right in the front row are Arrow of Light Recipients Dylan Bedell, Ryan Bott, Benjamin Cascone, Nicholas Houlder, Jason Lucas, Aaydin Smith, Joseph Stradone, Stephen Trachte and DeJour Williams. Standing from left to right are Avery Wilson, Commander, Warren Keer Post 9482 of Copiague; Assemblyman Sweeney; Deputy Supervisor Martinez; Horace Lucas, Cubmaster; Jason Richberg of Suffolk County Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory’s Office; and Nassau County Legislator Michael Venditto.
