[ARCHIVED] THIS SATURDAY – Parade to Celebrate NBA Champion Danny Green

dannygreenchamp.gif

This Saturday, July 26, there will be a parade held to congratulate North Babylon’s own Danny Green for winning this year’s NBA Championship as a member of the San Antonio Spurs! The parade starts at 10:00 AM at Marion G. Vedder Elementary School and will then head north up Deer Park Avenue to Spangle Drive and end at the basketball courts at Phelps Lane. Danny himself will be leading the parade with the actual Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy!

Danny Green was a celebrated athlete at North Babylon High School and later won a National Championship as part of the University of North Carolina’s basketball team. After his celebrated college career, Danny was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers and then joined the Spurs, where he has made two straight Finals appearances. Danny made headlines with his record-setting performance in last year’s NBA Finals, where he made the most 3-point field goals in NBA Finals history.

Since becoming a basketball star, Danny has continued to give back to the North Babylon community – participating in local clean-up events and helping repair local basketball courts, while also hosting youth basketball camps.

We hope to see you this Saturday as we congratulate Danny and give him a hometown welcome!
