[ARCHIVED] State Champion Softball Team Congratulated by Officials as They Head Off to Regional Tournament

Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer joined with Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Town Clerk Carol Quirk, Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma and Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey this morning to extend congratulations and well wishes to the State Champion West Babylon 9-10 year old Little League Softball Team as they began their journey to compete for the Eastern Regionals Championship in Old Forge, Pennsylvania this weekend.

Beginning their road to the championship last fall with hard work and dedication, the team went 48-1 and earned both the District 34 and Long Island Section 6 championships, in addition to winning the New York State Championship. Now state champions, the girls will represent New York in the tournament and play against the top team from the eastern states as they chase the regional title.
