Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer and Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez recently joined with other local officials and community members to celebrate the career of New York State Assemblyman Robert Sweeney, who is retiring after nearly thirty years in the State Assembly. A ceremony was held at Cedar Beach Marina, where Supervisor Schaffer and Deputy Supervisor Martinez unveiled a new plaque at the marina’s Sport Fishing Education Center and Aquaculture Facility dedicated to Assemblyman Sweeney in commemoration of his achievements and as a “thank you” for his longtime service to the Town of Babylon. The honorary bronze plaque was placed at the Sport Fishing Education Center and Aquaculture Facility at Cedar Beach due to Assemblyman Sweeney’s critical support of the facility and in recognition of his love for fishing and environmental advocacy.
Also in attendance were Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, State Senator Phil Boyle, Assemblyman Joseph Saladino, Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory and Lindenhurst Mayor Tom Brennan, among other officials.
