[ARCHIVED] Town to Host 27th Annual Black History Month Celebration

Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer has announced that the Department of Human Services will be hosting the Town’s 27th Annual Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, February 28th at Amityville Memorial High School. The event starts at 11:00 AM and will feature live performances, local honorees and a vendor marketplace. Delivering the keynote address at the event will be Tracey A. Edwards, who serves as the Long Island Regional Director for the NAACP New York State Conference as well as Councilwoman for the Town of Huntington.

Live entertainment at the event will be provided by 5-6-7-8 Cultural Dance Ensemble, the Amityville High School Jazz Band and Step Team, among others. At the event, eight members of our surrounding community will be honored for their accomplishments. The celebration will also mark the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Association for the Study of African American Life & History, which was founded in 1915 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson.
