Town of Babylon Councilwoman Jacqueline Gordon recently hosted an educational screening of the documentary film “Inside Buffalo” for over 60 students and veterans at Town Hall in Lindenhurst. The documentary tells the story of the all African-American segregated combat unit, the 92nd Buffalo Division that fought in Italy during World War II. Councilwoman Gordon, who is a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, held the special event to raise awareness about the Buffalo Division’s heroism and the adversity that they faced. Following the film, those in attendance were invited to take part in a question and answer session with Councilwoman Gordon, filmmaker Fred Kuwornu, actor Christopher Greene and United States Army Brigadier General George A. Jones.
“Not enough can be said about the bravery displayed by the 92nd Buffalo Division and their actions while fighting for our freedoms during World War II,” said Councilwoman Gordon. “It was an honor to join with Christopher Greene, Fred Kuwornu and Brigadier General George Jones to help spread their story and recognize the Buffalo Division’s contributions to our nation’s history.”
