Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez was recently on hand for the presentation of a $5,000 check from Covanta Energy to Babylon’s American Legion Post 94, which will go towards repairs to the post’s roof and other damage sustained during Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Covanta Energy operates the energy-from-waste facility in West Babylon and also sponsors the annual Babylon Covantage EcoTech Scholarship Contest, which awards local students with prize money for their environmental science projects. Deputy Supervisor Martinez thanked them for their generosity and service to the Town of Babylon community.
