[ARCHIVED] Top Honor for Top Cop

Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Tom Donnelly and Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma to honor Officer Ronald Treanor of Suffolk County's 1st Precinct for receiving the Our Lady of the Rosary Council No. 4428 Knights of Columbus’ Suffolk County Top Cop award. His distinct alertness for suspicious behavior has led to multiple arrests in high profile cases over the last year, including car theft and burglary. While pulling over a van for traffic infraction, he noticed tools that could be used in a burglary, which led to a further investigation on the passengers of the van. This vigilance resulted in detectives from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd precinct charging the occupants of the van with 12 separate commercial burglaries.
