Residents urged to stay off roads unless absolutely necessary.
Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer would like to remind all residents that the Department of Public Works is fully prepared and ready to deal with any issues that may occur from the accumulation of snowfall that the area is expected to experience.
"The Town of Babylon is continuing to take precautions and prepare for all possible outcomes as we monitor the winter storm," said Supervisor Schaffer. "Current forecasts suggest that snow accumulation and high winds are expected in our area, which will lead to slippery and unsafe conditions on the roads. I strongly encourage our residents to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary and to stay safe. We will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses into tomorrow. "
Department of Public Works Crew Members are on hand to operate between 80 to 90 snow plows, as well to deploy salt and sand to address icy roads. Additionally, 30 to 40 volunteer firefighters are on call to assist Town plow operations should storm conditions worsen. Town officials will continue to closely monitor flooding in coastal areas throughout the storm.
Town residents can report issues or downed trees by calling 311, or after hours to Public Safety at 422-7600.
