Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Tom Donnelly and Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma to present local lifeguard Andrew Morrison with the Town of Babylon’s Heroism Award – the highest honor awarded to residents. After seeing a car collide with a child on a bicycle outside of the Sawyer Avenue pool in West Babylon, Morrison hopped over the fence to help those injured by the accident. Morrison then went back to the pool to grab the defibrillator in order to help the injured eleven-year-old boy until paramedics arrived. The boy was transported to Stony Brook Hospital where he was treated for injuries. Supervisor Schaffer and members of the Town Board applauded Andrew for his life saving actions.
