Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer and the Department of Human Services will be hosting the Town's 17th annual Hispanic Heritage Month Festival on Saturday, October 17th at the Tanner Park Senior Center, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The theme of this year's event is "Hispanic Americans: Energizing Our Nation's Diversity." The formal presentation begins at 11:00 AM.
Being honored at this year's festival are Officers Jeannette Morales and Peter Rivera of Suffolk County Police's 3rd Precinct COPE unit, as well as Olga Saravia of Weldon W. Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale. The keynote speaker will be Sergio Argueta, founder of STRONG Youth, Ind.. Alicia Figueras, host of "A Name to Know," will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.
Live entertainment will be provided by DJ Press Play, Elegancia De La Salsa and Catherine Castro. The festival will feature special children's activities, vendors, raffles and cultural displays.
