At the March 9th 2016 Town Board Meeting, Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer and members of the Town Board passed Resolution 179 proclaiming March 21, 2016 as World Down Syndrome Day in the Town of Babylon. In attendance at the board meeting were representatives from “Alexander’s Angels,” an all-volunteer organization that raises funds for advocacy, service, and research organizations dedicated to Down syndrome. The United Nations first officially observed March 21st as World Down Syndrome Day back in 2012 to represent the triplication of the 21st chromosome. The Town of Babylon is proud to take part in this initiative to recognize the contributions and needs of individuals with Down syndrome.
Supervisor Schaffer commended the members of Alexander’s Angels for their dedication to this cause and presented them with a Town proclamation. For more information on Alexander’s Angels, visit www.alexandersangels.org .
