On Saturday, April 13, 2013, Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, and Councilman Tom Donnelly joined other local officials and nearly 100 volunteers to help kick off "Beautification After Sandy," which is a joint effort by the Lindenhurst Rotary Club, Lindenhurst Interact Club, and Camp Bulldog to clean properties that were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The volunteers consisted of various organizations, including local scout troops, school and community organizations, and over 30 members of the Gilford, New Hampshire Rotary and Interact clubs, who traveled to Lindenhurst to lend a helping hand. After meeting up at Camp Bulldog, the groups of volunteers dispersed to clean the yards of Sandy-affected homes, where they raked lawns, bagged leaves, and disposed of minor refuse left by the storm.

The clean-ups will be continuing through the weekend of May 4th. For more information, please contact Phil Renna at (631) 225-2074.

Other local officials in attendence included New York State Assemblyman Robert Sweeney, Deputy Presiding Officer Wayne Horsley of the Suffolk County Legislature, Village of Lindenhurst Mayor Thomas Brennan, Deputy Mayor Kevin McCaffrey, and Village Trustees Michael Lavorata, Joan Masterson, and Maryann Weckerle.
