The New York Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced that construction to replace the aging Wellwood Avenue Bridge over New York Route 27/Sunrise Highway is set to begin on Monday, June 20th, 2016. NYSDOT intends to minimize the impact on residents, drivers and businesses during this major project by limiting construction activities to off-peak day and/or night time hours and by shifting travel lanes during various stages.
Beginning on June 20th, single travel lane closures will be in effect between 10AM and 3PM, Monday through Friday on Wellwood Avenue for about one week. Electronic road signs will provide updated information about daily lane closures.
