[ARCHIVED] ALERT: Night Time Lane Closures to go in Effect

The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that night time travel lane closures of NY Route 27/Sunrise Highway at the Wellwood Avenue Bridge will begin Wednesday, July 6th. Between 10PM and 6AM Monday through Friday, one or two eastbound and/or westbound travel lanes will be closed--weather permitting--for approximately one month. These night time closures are in addition to the intermittent off-peak day time closures of Wellwood Avenue and NY Route 27/Sunrise Highway that are in effect Monday through Friday between 10AM and 3PM. At least one travel lane in each direction of Wellwood Avenue and NY 27/Sunrise Highway will remain open to traffic.

Drivers will be warned in advance of the closures via electronic road signs but should plan to take alternate routes to avoid delays. For real-time travel information, motorists should call 511 or visit
