Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined Town Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Tom Donnelly, New York State Senator Phil Boyle, New York State Assemblyman Joseph Saladino, and Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey at a street renaming ceremony in honor of lifelong West Babylon resident Michael A. Naglieri. Naglieri served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class from 1944-1946 and received the Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal, and the American Theater Medal 1 Star while fighting in World War II. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1946, he raised his family on Herzel Boulevard in West Babylon and was heavily involved with the community through coaching various local football teams. Naglieri would later become an active member of the West Babylon Fire Department, Co. #2 until his passing in 1974.

To honor Naglieri’s service to his country and his dedication to the West Babylon community, the Babylon Town Board passed Resolution No. 504, renaming 10th Avenue between Herzel Boulevard and 9th Street in West Babylon “Michael A. Naglieri Memorial Way.”

Pictured with friends and family members of Michael Naglieri are Deputy Supervisor Martinez, Councilman Donnelly, West Babylon Fire Chief Christine Manzi, Assemblyman Saladino, Senator Boyle, Legislator McCaffrey, and Supervisor Schaffer.
