Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Greybarn apartment complex in Amityville. With a centralized location just minutes away from the downtowns of Amityville and Farmingdale, Greybarn Amityville—the first of many planned locations on Long Island to carry the Greybarn name—will help fill the shortage of quality rental apartments in the area. The project was undertaken by Mitchell and Gregg Rechler of Rechler Equity Partners, the largest owner of commercial real estate on Long Island. Following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, a tour of the community was given by Mitchell and Gregg Rechler.
“Greybarn is a tremendous asset for the community, promoting economic growth while addressing a need for quality housing,” said Supervisor Schaffer. “We are proud to have this new and exciting neighborhood here in the Town of Babylon.”
Greybarn features 500 one-and-two-bedroom apartment units along with indoor and outdoor communal spaces to foster a sense of home throughout the walk-able community. Its façade is a tribute to Long Island’s rich farming heritage, and its green spaces encourage residents to enjoy the outdoors. Observing the finished product was a rewarding experience for those who collaborated to make this unique initiative into a reality.
“This is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when everybody works together to create smart development that truly helps people,” said Deputy Supervisor Martinez. “This was a successful effort because of the effective collaboration among the Town of Babylon, Rechler Equity Partners, and the local community.”
Supervisor Schaffer and Deputy Supervisor Martinez presented Mitchell and Gregg Rechler with an official Certificate of Special Recognition for their investment in the Town of Babylon community.
Greybarn Amityville is currently accepting rental applications. If you are interested in living in this exciting new community, please visit www.greybarn-li.com or call 631-414-8500.
