Town of
Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer was recently on hand in Babylon Village to
recognize the 2016 Nathaniel Conklin Award for Volunteerism winner, Dr.
Christopher Proto. Dr. Proto, who owns a dental practice in the Village, has
been an active member of the local community for many years, serving in roles
with the Babylon Rotary Club, the Babylon Community Scholarship Fund, the
Historic Fountain Reconstruction Project, and the Nathaniel Conklin Restoration
Fund. Dr. Proto is currently the co-chair of the Babylon Bayman Statue Steering
Committee, which was established to celebrate Babylon’s waterfront heritage; the
committee is currently raising money for a statue of a clammer to be installed
on Main Street in Babylon Village.
Supervisor
Schaffer congratulated Dr. Proto on his award and thanked him for his years of
service to the Babylon community.
