Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with Councilwoman Jackie Gordon and Councilman Tom Donnelly to honor Michael Charumaneeroj, of Deer Park, on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. The Eagle Scout is the highest rank available in the Boy Scouts organization. A Court of Honor ceremony was held for Michael at Deer Park High School.
A member of Troop 86, Michael is ranked 9th in his 2017 graduating class at Deer Park High School, where he is also a member of the Marching Band, Wind Ensemblw, Jazz Band, Swimming and Golf teams. For his Eagle Scout project, Michael built a storage unit for the Deer Park High School band room, in order for future students to have a proper storage area for their larger-sized instruments instead of having them strewn across the floor.
Supervisor Schaffer congratulated Michael on his achievement and presented him with an official Town of Babylon Proclamation, officially marking May 3, 2017 as “Eagle Scout Michael A. Charumaneeroj Day” in the Town of Babylon.
Michael will attend Stony Brook University in the fall, where he will study electrical engineering.
