Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently joined with Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez and Councilwoman Jackie Gordon to congratulate Conor McGowan, of Lindenhurst, on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. The Eagle Scout is the highest rank achievable in the Boy Scouts Organization.
For his Eagle project, McGowan, of Troop 183, coordinated the installation of a park bench along the shore of Fellers Pond. In addition, he oversaw the painting of the fence surrounding the 9/11 memorial site as well as the clean-up of the memorial itself. These improvements were funded through a car wash as well as donations from several local businesses. McGowan credits the assistance of many volunteers, scouts, scoutmasters, friends and family members for making his project possible.
Supervisor Schaffer thanked Conor for his service to the community and presented him with an official Town of Babylon proclamation.
