[ARCHIVED] Town of Babylon Unveils First Annual Environmental Award

Environmental Award Newsflash.jpg
At this year’s Town of Babylon Earth Day Celebration, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez unveiled the first annual Town of Babylon Environmental Stewardship Award, a yearly award that recognizes the work of a local environmental group. The inaugural award was presented to Todd Brice, President and Co-Founder of the Great South Bay Society, for 10 years of dedicated service keeping our local environment clean and beautiful. Brice was joined by co-founders David Hager and Michael Babich to accept the award.

Since 2007, the Great South Bay Society has hosted an annual cleanup of the Great South Bay in Amityville. Over the years, they have removed over 120,000 pounds of debris from the water and surrounding area.

Deputy Supervisor Martinez thanked Brice and his team for their steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship. Those interested in getting involved with the Great South Bay Society can visit their Facebook page as well as www.greatsouthbaysociety.org.
