[ARCHIVED] LIRR Notice for October 20, 2017 - October 22, 2017

Please see the following notice from the Long Island Railroad regarding road detours in Deer Park:

During the weekend of October 20, The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will be installing a new grade crossing at Carlls Path in Deer Park in the Town of Babylon.  This work is being performed as part of the LIRR Main Line Double Track Project between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. The Double Track Project will improve service and reliability on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch, spur economic activity, provide hundreds of construction jobs and improve LIRR service to Long Island MacArthur Airport.  It will reduce delays on the LIRR and enable more off peak service in both directions.

Work at the grade crossing will take place from Friday, October 20, 11:59 PM through Sunday, October 22, 11:59 PM and run continuously through the night. The road will be fully closed while the crossing is installed. A full detour will be provided. Permanent pavement will be installed at the grade crossing before the road is reopened to traffic.
