[ARCHIVED] Town of Babylon Officials Congratulate New Eagle Scout from Copiague

Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor and Councilman Tony Martinez and Councilwoman Jackie Gordon recently attended the Court of Honor ceremony for Erik S. Sattler, where he was named an Eagle Scout. Martinez and Gordon thanked Sattler for his service to his Copiague community and congratulated him on the great honor of becoming an Eagle Scout.

Sattler’s Eagle Project took place in the Town’s Tanner Park in Copiague. He constructed a 20-foot Gaga Ball Pit and a 50-foot Kan-Jam area in the park. Gaga Ball is a variation of dodgeball that helps players increase agility and hand-eye coordination. Kan-Jam is a popular backyard game that features two plastic cans and a Frisbee. The goal is to toss the Frisbee toward the can, where the player’s partner can “slam” it down for points. The areas are open to the public, and were cleaned and developed by Sattler. He said he chose the project because he spent countless hours at the park growing up and wanted to improve it for his fellow residents. The project took nearly 180 hours to complete.
