News from the Community Development Program: Since 1990, NYU Winthrop Hospital has been serving the North Babylon and Deer Park communities with its medical affiliates.  Recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, NYU Winthrop offers patients the latest treatments using innovative technology and nationally accredited standards of care.  Their multidisciplinary approach is the cornerstone of their philosophy, which is designed to deliver compassionate, coordinated care across a wide range of primary and specialty medicine areas.

NYU Winthrop is committed to investing in local communities on all levels of service and enhancement projects.  On September 15, 2017, representatives from NYU Winthrop Hospital, Town of Babylon Elected Officials, community leaders, local organization members, Deer Park School officials, the Deer Park Fire Department, as well as many residents, gathered together to celebrate the dedication of the new beautification site located on the corner of Grand Blvd and Carll’s Path in Deer Park, which is sponsored by NYU Winthrop Hospital.

NYU Winthrop funded the beautifully landscaped site, which includes sod, irrigation, landscape amenities and myriad perennials that adorn a new carved sign which reads “The Deer Park Community Welcomes You,” an emblem representing the cohesiveness of the Deer Park community and its residents.

Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer and local officials were proud to recognize NYU Winthrop for their admirable contribution and presented them with a special proclamation for their outstanding commitment to the community.   Supervisor Schaffer and the Babylon Town Board welcomed the opportunity to thank NYU Winthrop staff, including John F. Collins, President and CEO, Edward Chewens, Senior Vice President Physician Practices & Ambulatory Networks and J. Edmund Keating, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations, for their commitment to the betterment of the North Babylon and Deer Park communities.

NYU Winthrop’s main campus is located in Mineola, which includes an onsite dialysis center, CyberKnife Center and the Cancer Center for Kids.  NYU Winthrop also has multiple ambulatory sites throughout the surrounding area, including a new expanded ambulatory surgery center in Garden City and Specialty Center East in Deer Park.
