Town of Babylon Clerk Gerry Compitello stopped by Van Bourgondien Park in West Babylon recently to watch Lions Gibraltar Football Club practice before their four upcoming games on Long Island. The professional women’s team is holding its training camp in West Babylon to help develop new relationships, as they welcome members of the South Shore Soccer Club to join their sessions throughout the week. Brendan Cunningham, a representative from New York State Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre’s office was also in attendance.

The Lions head coach, Adrian Parral, has a coaching pedigree that includes work with both the men’s and women’s national teams in Gibraltar. Several members of the South Shore Soccer Club had the opportunity to practice with Parral and learn from his coaching.

“This is an amazing opportunity to grow the game here on Long Island,” said South Shore Soccer Club President Robert Fifield. “We are always trying to do special things like this to give our players the best possible experience, and I thank Adrian and the rest of his organization for this awesome partnership,” he added.

The Lions scheduled a slate of four games against local women’s soccer teams across Nassau and Suffolk counties as friendly matches to get ready for their upcoming regular season back in Gibraltar.
