From the Town of Babylon Beautification Program: Girl Scouts Mackenzie and Peyton Losardo from Troop 2789 presented their Silver Award Project at Phelps Lane Park to Town of Babylon officials. Under the fine leadership of Troop Leaders Melisa Beck and Carol Schierle, the girls raised funds and gathered donations to paint colorful murals depicting whimsical artistry on two 55 gallon trash receptacles that adorn the playground area. The Silver Award in Girl Scouting requires 50 hours of careful planning and implementation demonstrating leadership skills and managing a project to fruition.
Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Town Clerk Gerry Compitello, Legislator Tom Donnelly, Parks Commissioner Celeste Cusmierski, Deputy Parks Commissioner Tricia Burton and Beautification Program Director Florence Findley congratulated Girl Scouts Mackenzie and Peyton for their dedicated hard work, for adding beauty to the park and for a job well done.
