The Town of Babylon is committed to the revitalization of the heart of downtown Copiague. We are very excited about the positive changes taking place in this area. In order to further our commitment to the revitalization of Copiague, the Town is reviewing the parking supply around the train station and areas that abut the Copiague business district.
Please be advised that the Town of Babylon has developed a comprehensive Parking Management Plan for the Copiague Train Station. We have determined that many of the parking lots in this area are mostly unregulated. These unregulated parking lots attract parkers from surrounding areas and places an undue burden on the local parking supply and the Town in general as we strive to keep the lots clean and in a state of good repair. Having a Parking Space Management Program that will properly serve LIRR commuters will keep our parking areas in top condition while reflecting and supporting the revitalization of the downtown area.
Anticipated implementation of the new Parking Management Plan and increased regulations will not take place until sometime in 2019. Therefore, please be advised that
the Copiague Railroad Resident Parking Permit for the Town of Babylon-owned surface parking lots north of Marconi Boulevard near the Copiague Train Station, which were issued in 2018, will be effective until further notice.
Thank you for your attention regarding this matter. If you have any questions, please contact the Parking Permit Office at 631-957-3050.
