Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer Councilmen Anthony Manetta and Terry McSweeney, Town Clerk Gerry Compitello and Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma recently welcomed Jake Carlock, a recent free agent signing of the New York Giants NFL franchise. The former Babylon football and basketball star was presented with an official Town of Babylon Proclamation for his achievements on the field. Tom Gargiulo of the Town of Babylon Youth Bureau and longtime local basketball coach was also in attendance.

Carlock will have a shot at making the 53-player final roster this summer at training camp with the Giants in Albany. Once his roster spot is secured, he will have the opportunity to play against some of the NFL’s best talent, including the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots in October.

Supervisor Schaffer and the rest of the Town Board encouraged Jake to continue to be a role model to kids in the Town of Babylon, and commended him for his commitment to studying to become a teacher one day.
