Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilwoman and U.S. Army Veteran Jackie Gordon and Councilman Terry McSweeney welcomed 34 high school seniors from the Town of Babylon who have chosen to join the various branches of the United States Armed Forces for their next step in life. Each student was presented with an official Town of Babylon Proclamation for their commitment to our country. NYS Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre, Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory and Legislator Kevin McCaffrey were also in attendance.
Retired U.S. Army Major Jorge L. Rosario, who is now the Commander for VFW Post 2912 in Wheatley Heights and a volunteer basketball coach, and Frank Romeo, a decorated Vietnam Veteran and veteran issues activist, offered remarks at the event. They expressed to the students the importance of their decision and how much it means to the community.
