Town of Babylon Councilman and Public Safety Chairman Terry McSweeney recently welcomed Suffolk County Police Department Cliff Lent to Town Hall for a presentation on what to do in the presence of an active shooter and other life-threatening situations. After attending the presentation in a different setting, resident Joanne Williams approached Councilman McSweeney about the town hosting the presentation and opening it to all residents.
Detective Cliff Lent is a 24-year veteran of the Suffolk County Police Department and a member of the Homeland Security and Criminal Intelligence Bureau. He has traveled across Suffolk County giving this presentation over the last few years due to the unfortunate increase in mass shootings across the United States. Det. Lent also spent four years in the United States Navy.
Before the presentation, Councilman McSweeney and S.C.P.D. Deputy Inspector Vincent Maronski presented Det. Lent with an official Town of Babylon Proclamation for his years of service to the Long Island community during his decorated career.
