[ARCHIVED] Parliament Place Students Raise Awareness about Plastic in Oceans

ParliamentPlaceResize

Mrs. Staci Manning’s 5th grade class at Parliament Place Elementary School in North Babylon wants you to know that by the year 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans! That’s only 30 years away! The class educated Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Terry McSweeney and Beautification Director Viscel Moore with their oral presentation “Renew, Reuse, and Reduce and Single-Use Plastics”. The students were very informative and used slides to visually support their facts. Councilman McSweeney presented the students with certificates for their excellent work. The class then presented Supervisor Schaffer, who attended North Babylon Schools and Councilman McSweeney who attended Parliament Place Elementary with T-shirts carrying their message: “There is no Planet B!”
