[ARCHIVED] Babylon Receives Mass PPE Donation from Chinese American Association

Over 20,000 masks, 10,000 protective suits to be distributed to community organizations

Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez and Councilman DuWayne Gregory recently accepted a donation of over 20,000 disposable face masks, 150 pairs of goggles and 150 face shields from various members of the Chinese American Association. The town is working on a plan to distribute a large portion of the donation to various community groups throughout the town, especially ones that run food banks and other resources for residents in need.

“This amazing donation is going to go a long way in supplying our residents with the necessary personal protective equipment to stay safe from COVID-19 as the Long Island region progresses through the various reopening phases,” said Supervisor Rich Schaffer. “We are so grateful to Mark Jia of the Chinese American Association and his partners for their commitment to helping our communities when we need it the most,” he added.

Also in attendance were Marcus Duffin, the Town of Babylon’s Special Projects Director and Daniel Lloyd, a member of the town’s Youth Bureau team and founder of Minority Millennials, Inc, who will be one of the recipients of the PPE. After Lloyd connected the Chinese American Association and the Town of Babylon, Duffin coordinated the donation and will oversee the distribution of the contents.

The breakdown of the donation is as follows:

Beijing Association of New York (represented by President Baoli Zhang): 10,000 disposable masks

Jinsong Lu, individual donor: 10,000 protective suits

American Guangxi Fraternal Association, Inc.: 8,000 disposable masks

(represented by Jerry Chen, Yingzhong Dong and Jun Sun)

 Wuhan University Alumni Association of Greater New York: 3,000 disposable masks

(represented by Zhenyu Yue)

Xiamen University Alumni Association of New York: 1,600 masks, 150 goggles, 100 face shields

(represented by President Jiao Wu)

New York Coffee Club (represented by Angelene Huang): 500 surgical masks

 WDNY International (represented by president Edward Zhu): 500 disposable masks

TMD HALU, Inc. (represented by President Mr. Xu): 100 face shields

Hongli Gao, individual donor: 10 protective suits, 100 disposable masks


Beijing Association of New York:

Beijing Associations of NY is a nonprofit Organization. After NY state became a Centre of disaster area, We devoted a lots of time and energy and trying to help our communities and people of New York. We donate over 45000 masks and hundreds of gowns, 450 free lunch boxes to the people who works in a frontlines. Such as police stations, hospitals, post office, restaurants, senior Centers, local township and ny residents. we believe people of NY to work together and help each other, eventually we’ll see the rainbow in the sky very soon!

American Guangxi Fraternal Association INC:

American Guangxi Fraternal Association donated 8000 masks to police stations, hospitals, and local communities. We believe in taking care of our frontline workers and each other as we brave these challenging times.

Wuhan University Alumni New York:

As the residents of New York state, we are now devastated by the impact of the pandemic on our community and our lives. Wuhan University alumni were among the first to respond to the calls in early March from NYC hospitals for help – 1.5 million masks, including 350,000 N-95 respirators, were shipped to NYC on a chartered plane. We have also donated additional 100,000 masks and 500 protective gowns to the hospitals, post office, resident buildings, police station, and senior homes/homeless shelters, and schools throughout greater NY areas. Xiamen University Alumni Association of New York:

Xiamen University Alumni Association of New York have raised over $65000 cash and PPE from our alumni in US and China to fight COVID-19 since end of March. Our focus is helping hospitals with financial restrictions and medical workers lack of access to PPE in Greater New York area. We’ve donated 9060 N95/KN95 face masks, 10000 surgical masks, 2645 goggles ,1475 protective gowns and 900 face shields , to totally 41 donees including hospitals, nursing house, police station,Fire district and governor’s office in the Greater NY area. Our volunteers work hard to deliver PPE promptly to the donees once we learned about their needs for help. Fox Business reported our donation to local hospitals in the first week of April. Together we stand, My armors thine!
