[ARCHIVED] Town Officials Take Part in Red Ribbon Walk

Red Ribbon Walk small

Copiague Community Cares (CCC) recently hosted its Annual “Walk for Awareness Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse.” Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman and Beautification Program Chair Terence McSweeney and Suffolk County Legislator Jason Richberg thanked the CCC and the dedicated volunteers who gathered at the Copiague Rail Road station to participate in the awareness walk. The volunteers tied vibrant red bows on the decorative downtown lampposts on Great Neck Rd and Montauk Highway in Copiague honoring Red Ribbon Week.

Red Ribbon Week, celebrated every year during the week of October 23-31 is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention and awareness program. It aims to bring awareness to the importance of support of nationwide anti-drug programs, living a drug-free life and taking a stand against drugs.
