1. Are unregistered vehicles allowed on personal property?

No. Town of Babylon Town Code 133-25 specifies that no unregistered vehicles are allowed to park on personal property or in the street.

2. Can boats be parked on personal property?

Yes. Boats hitched to a registered trailer or placed on cinder blocks may be parked on personal driveways or the back of a dwelling. Boats cannot be parked in the front yard or cause a sight obstruction for adjacent homeowners when backing out of their driveways.

No. Town of Babylon Traffic Code (Section 5-1) specifies that no commercial vehicles are allowed to park on personal property or in the street.

4. Can homeowners and tenants park vehicles on the street?

Yes. The street is public property and does allow public parking unless a sign is posted designating no parking.

5. Who do I call about a car obstructing a sidewalk?

Concerns about vehicles obstructing the public right-of-way, should be directed to Citizen Services at (631) 957-TOWN (8696). A Public Safety officer will be sent to the location and, if found in violation of Town Code, will tow the vehicle and issue a summons to the vehicle owner.

6. Can I park a vehicle on the street for the purposes of selling it if it does not have license plates or vehicle registration information?

No, it is against Town Code to park any vehicle on the street that is not registered and does not have license plates. If a vehicle is parked on the street and is in violation of Town Code, it will be towed and the vehicle owner will be issued a summons.
